Quickstart

Build a form, publish it, capture a record on a phone, and review it on the web.

Updated 2026-09-01

This walkthrough takes a new workspace from empty to a submitted record. You need a dashboard sign-in with permission to build forms, and a phone with your workspace's mobile app installed — your FieldScroll contact provides the store listing or test build.

1. Sign in to the dashboard

Open your workspace's dashboard URL and sign in. If your account was created by an administrator, the invitation email contains a link to set your password.

2. Build a form

Go to Forms and create a new form. Add a few fields — a text field for a name, a choice field for a status, a photo field. Each field has a label, an optional hint, and validation rules. Save your draft as you go with Save draft — nothing is visible to field users yet.

3. Publish it

Publish the form, then assign the users who should collect with it. Publishing creates a versioned snapshot: assigned devices download the published version, and later edits stay invisible until you publish again.

4. Capture a record on the phone

Sign in to the mobile app with the same workspace. The forms assigned to you download on first sign-in. Open the form, fill it in, and submit. To see offline behavior, turn on airplane mode first — the record queues on the device, and uploads on its own once you turn airplane mode off. While it waits, the sync icon in the header shows an amber dot.

5. Review it on the web

Back in the dashboard, open Records. The submission appears with its captured data, photos, and device metadata. Search and filters narrow the list as volume grows.
